Covid Fears and a Happy New Year

Before I go on, let me make one thing clear. If wearing masks, getting 3 vaccine shots, and social distancing make you feel safer, then go for it. But making these mandatory throughout society seems draconian. Now let me begin my musings on Covid Fears and a Happy New Year

There’s a conflict whether Rahm Emanuel or Winston Churchill is credited with the quote– Never let a good crisis go to waste. Yet it seems politicians and the press everywhere have taken this to heart, especially during this ongoing pandemic.

2 years ago, the world was made aware of Covid-19. And since then, the entire planet has suffered. And not just from the symptoms of the virus. There are still numerous institutions on lockdown even after multiple vaccines, mask mandates, lockdowns, restrictions, social distancing, quarantines, and medical breakthroughs.

Circular Reasoning and The Pandemic.

To me, the most absurd argument for a vaccine mandate is this. The vaccinated must be protected from the unvaccinated because the unvaccinated can still infect the vaccinated. Even after 3 vaccinations.

With this circular reasoning, we will never have a happy new year nor will things get back to normal. Since viruses have the irritating tendency to morph into new forms over time. Meaning mask-wearing and multiple vaccines will never fully protect anyone. Even if everyone on the planet gets vaccinated and wears a mask.

If scientists are right and herd immunity exists, then why are we trying to limit the herd from physically interacting with each other?

Covid Fears and a Happy New Year

In the end, it’s hard to have a happy new year living in a state of constant fear. Maybe it’s time to turn off the news, ignore the babbling politicians and self-serving pundits, and set ourselves free, so we can truly have a happier new year.

And voting out the fear-mongering politicians should also help.
