Your Aladdin Story: Making Wishes Reality

The idea of having ‘three wishes’ has spread far and wide. In similar fasion, finding a magic creature able to grant every request has inflamed many an imagination. Aladdin is one such story.

Disney’s new movie is just another rendition of the story of Aladdin which ranges from Broadway productions to musicals and animation to video games. The story of Aladdin is often thought to be part of the original Arabic Text Manuscripts called the “Book of One Thousand and One Nights”. However , the story of Aladdin was actually added to these accounts by Antoine Galland, who acquired the tale from a Syrian storyteller, Youhenna Diab (according to Wikipedia and Time Magazine).

Regardless of its rendition, the basic story is about a poor boy who finds a magic lamp and is rewarded three wishes by freeing the genie inside. Along the way they have great adventures, become heroes, and everything ends up happy with the genie being freed and the boy falling in love with a princess.

If only life could be the same.

Making Wishes Reality: 3 ways to start

At some point in time, we all hope some opportunity will arise and make our dreams come true. Like winning the lottery, being ‘discovered’, finding a lost treasure or being offered our dream job. Yet, making wishes a reality is rarely that easy.

eing granted our wishes always starts with a decision to do something about it. Getting off our butts and making an effort. Reading, studying, training, working and taking risks is all part of the magic genie inside us.

Even in today’s media crazed culture, becoming an influencer, YouTube star or starting the next unicorn takes work. Don’t be fooled by all the hype. Every wish you have will take effort on your part.

Making wishes reality always starts with you

1. Get off your butt and start planning:  Your goals, and dreams, won’t go anywhere if you don’t start moving. We at OMD believe in planning and then acting on our plan. Like they say: Plan your work and work your plan.

2. Network carefully:  It’s good to get the word out. To find people who can help and meet those of a similar mindset. However, these same individuals or groups can also steal, destroy or even hinder your progress. So, choose wisely.

3. Step out in faith: Fear is both a motivator and an anchor. Taking risks is part of wish fulfillment. As is Failure. Since we often learn best by our mistakes. Action is the engine that makes our wishes come true. Without action, your wish is just a wish.
